What is Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is an acid produced by your body and located in-between your skin cells. When you are younger your skin will have a high level of hyaluronic acid. Basically, one can explain it as a molecule that helps the skin to bind water. When the skin has a high level of hyaluronic acid the skin looks even, bright and elastic. The older you get the harder your body will have to produce this acid; the skin gets dryer and won’t be able to bind as much water and wrinkles will become more visible. By adding hyaluronic acid to your skincare, you will help the skin to increase moisture, improve the skin’s barrier and elasticity.

How to use this
This is a toner, even though it is called lotion. I know this is confusing but this is a Japanese product and they simply us the word lotion instead. I use this after my regular toner, but it is fine to use this as your only toner. Be sure to put it on while your skin is still moist though. Why you can read about here.
Just apply it to your skin and pat in, then you apply the rest of your routine as usual.
My thoughts on Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion
I have super dry skin and my skin needs all the moisture it can get. Before starting with Kbeauty my skin was a mess (read about that here).
The regular lotion was one of my first Asian skincare products I bought and I have been using this type of product ever since then.
Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion has 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, this is really amazing since the different HA molecules penetrates different layers of your skin. So, if you think off your skin as layers, the smaller the molecule is the further into the skin it succeeds to penetrate. Which means that there are more layers to carry the moisture.
I will not go in deeper in this on this post, if you want more details let me know and I will make a post on it.
I have read that some people get a reaction to this product, this could be because it contains so many different molecules of HA. If you have sensitive skin I really recommend to do a patch test or buy a sample first.
The packaging is the same as the regular lotion but it is a little bit more fancy touch to it. The golden color that is😊.
It is a sturdy bottle with a flip cap and it is easy to get the product out and not getting too much at the same time. You really need a small amount, around two drops are enough for the entire face.
The lotion is clear and on the thicker side almost like a serum instead. This also means that it takes a little longer time to absorb to my skin. It doesn’t have any direct scent to it. it does smell a little but it is more chemical than added perfume. Same as the regular lotion.
The pH is around 5 which is really amazing and something you should be looking for in your skincare, especially if you have sensitive skin (I haven’t tested myself but there are a lot of other people that has, so I really trust their testing).
Differences from the regular lotion
- The premium lotion is thicker than the regular version
- Contains 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. The regular one contains 3
- This takes a little longer to absorb
I really do love this product. It makes my skin really nice and I can’t see myself not using this type of product in my routine. The bottle will last you a really long time and you only need about 2 drops for your entire face and that bottle is 170 ml. I can’t say that I like this one better then the other lotion, my skin really didn’t act any differently when using this one compared to the normal lotion. But if you have sensitive skin I would start with the regular lotion first.
I give this product 7/7
