My thoughts on Huda beauty liquid matte lipstick

I received this in one of my Glossyboxes and I was super excited to try it out.

The packaging is really nice and looks nice. Nothing over the top but still nice. The applicator is a regular doe foot applicator.

The Huda beauty liquid matte lipstick is strongly scented. The scent is vanilla and it is ok, but according to me it is way too strong. I really don’t get why they need to add a scent to your lip products to begin with.

The color is not for me, it is making me look pale or washed out. I need some more red or brown on my lips for it to look nice. I can always mix this by using a darker shade underneath (like a lip pen) and the color is workable.

As always when using a liquid lipstick, I recommend that you exfoliate your lips before. When a matte lipstick dries up all the dry parts will show and it really doesn’t look good. You can either exfoliate by using a toothbrush, a towel or a lip scrub. Either works fine for the task.

The Huda beauty liquid matte lipstick is supposed to dry without leaving a sticky feeling, but it doesn’t on me. it simply doesn’t dry down completely therefore leaving a stickiness which I really don’t like. If I was supposed to use it I will use a powder on top to make it completely stick free.

The formula is light and it doesn’t make one feel like you have a ton of products on your lips. I do struggle using matte lipsticks just because of this reason. And I prefer using tints since they don’t leave any weird feeling on my lips.

I did find it to be a little patchy when applying one layer, but by adding a second layer it evens out.

Since it doesn’t dry on my lips it isn’t completely transfer proof. It doesn’t transfer a ton of product but it isn’t transfer proof either.

The lasting power I didn’t find to be anything beyond normal. It doesn’t last me that many hours. Maybe around three so absolutely not a long lasting lipstick.
