What is Centella Asiatica?
Centella Asiatica is a herb that grows mostly in Asia. It is both a culinary and medical herb and has been used in skincare for quite some time. The main use of the ingredient is to strengthen the skins barrier which is a good quality and can be used for all skin types.
My thoughts on SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule
This is one of those products that has been all over tiktok and Instagram. People seem to rave about making it one of those products that is harder to test with out any objectivity. But still if I am not able to be objective I am not any use am I?.
So, I decided to try it out and see what the fuss was all about.
Packaging
I really love the packaging of SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule. It is simple and clean looking. Comes with a pipette and that just makes the product a little bit more fancy (at least according to me). It has a glass bottle which is always a risk when it comes to skincare and bathrooms. This is a long shot I know, but bare with me.
Whenever I layer skincare (which is always) my hands ends up quite slippery (depending on what products I use) and I am always super scared that I will drop one bottle in the bathroom sink shattering it in millions. That has not happened, YET, but I still visualize this all the time:-). That doesn’t mean that I don’t like glass bottles, they just scares me a little.
The ampoule is really lightweight. It has a watery texture but on the thicker side. It reminds me more of a thicker essence than an ampoule. But you use it after cleansing and toning. I always go for the thickness of a product when layering my skin care. This makes it a lot easier to layer skincare. So this said I layer this between essence, serum and ampoules depending on what serums I am using at the moment.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule is not scented, which I love. It is clear in color as well.
When applying it, it feels a little slimy to the touch. But absorbs fast and without leaving any sticky feeling behind.
Whenever you layer skincare some product might not work. Product will start pilling and this just makes everything look awful. The ampoule works well with all the different skincare products I’ve been using as well as different BB creams.
So the claims to this product is mainly to strengthen the skins barrier. To prove that or to say that it does on me is really difficult since I don’t know exactly how my skin would feel without it. When I do review on products like this I test it for a while and then I don’t use it, and then I start again. Just to see if I feel anything different on my skin.
I have super dry skin and my skin really needs the moisture and the help from this type of product. Still I am not sure that it is a really good product for me or just an okay product. I do think by adding this product to a skincare routine it might help a lot with keeping the moisture in and helping with other product that you might add after this one.
Conclusion
This is one of those product that I am not really sure about. I do feel that it does help in some way but I am not really sure how. Cica products are known for there benefits in strengthen the skins barrier so just for that case it is a good ingredient to add to your skincare routine.
I give this product 5/7
